Jeanette Cordova has over 22 years experience in nonprofits and over 17 years in advocating for children with disabilities. Jeanette is Puerto Rican American and lived in Colorado for 27 years. Prior to that she was born in NYC and raised in Miami, Florida. She is back in Florida to care for her elder mom but still serving and supporting the Colorado community.

Jeanette is also the proud mom of an 18 year old son who is chromosomally enhanced and has a lot of charm to spread around. Jeanette knows first-hand the challenges and wonderful journey it is being a parent of a child with unique abilities.

Some of Jeanette's experience came through her volunteer time as Educational Surrogate Parent for the Colorado Department of Education over 6 years. She provided advocacy for children with disabilities whose parental rights were severed and need a representative in their individualized education plan meetings. In addition to her years of hands on experience, Jeanette graduated May 2011 with her Associates in Liberal Arts, Cum Laude from Community College of Denver. She graduated December 2014 with her Bachelor of Science in Human Services with a concentration in nonprofit and minors in Psychology and Spanish. She is also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Psi Beta National Honor Society in Psychology, and Human Services Organization at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Jeanette has developed and maintained relationships with Spanish-speaking community in the area of disabilities for the past 27 years. Jeanette is eager to lend her talents to help families and organizations in Florida create positive environments for people with unique abilities.

The mission of Bright Futures Advocacy and Jeanette is to support brighter futures for people with unique abilities through education and advocacy. She strives to provide the tools that parents, siblings and others who support individuals with disabilities need to then teach their children to advocate for themselves.
